Culture & Traditions of Kashmir

The Kashmir Valley is home to a rich and diverse culture that has been shaped by its unique history and geographical location. Kashmir is known for its beautiful scenic landscape, which has inspired many artists and writers over the centuries. The valley is also home to a number of architectural treasures, including the Mughal-era buildings at Shadipur in Srinagar and the ancient temple complex of Martand Sun Temple in Anantnag district.

Kashmir's rich cultural heritage is also reflected in its cuisine, which combines elements from both Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Some of the most popular dishes from Kashmir include Rogan josh (a lamb stew cooked with spices), Yakhni (a chicken curry), Dum aloo (potatoes cooked in gravy), and Gushtaba (meatballs in yogurt sauce).
